Bodies of three more women found inside a room of Sky Villa condo that collapsed due to earthquake in Mandalay

The bodies of three more women have been found inside a room at the Sky Villa condo complex that collapsed due to the earthquake in Mandalay, according to the Myanmar Fire Service Department.

On Tuesday (May 27), firemen were working to clear the Sky Villa Building (B) in Mandalay, where they found the bodies.

A woman's body was retrieved from Room J 4 of Building (B) at 9.20am, followed by another's body at 9.35am, and another's body at 9.45am, totalling three altogether.

Earlier on May 23, at around 10.30am, the body of a man was recovered from Room I3 of Building B of Sky Villa, and at around 4pm on May 22, the body of a woman was recovered from Room I9 of Building B of Sky Villa.

In addition, the body of a man was recovered from Sky Villa (B) at 10am on May 22; the bodies of two women and a man on May 20; the body of a woman on May 19; the body of a man on May 18; and the bodies of a man and a woman on May 15; according to a statement from the Myanmar Fire department.

The department had said that so far more than 100 bodies had been recovered from the collapsed Sky Villa condo.

The Sky Villa condo that collapsed due to the earthquake was built by NTL Construction Company.

After construction in 2017, when the units were first sold, they were advertised as being built with earthquake-resistant foundations.

The Sky Villa condo has four sections, and in the collapse, all 10 floors in the middle and west collapsed, while only the top six floors remained in the east, while the bottom four floors sank into the ground. - Eleven Media/ANN
